Terms of Service

Last updated: launch edition, 2026.

1. What Lanier is

Lanier is a marketplace that connects people who need laundry or garment care ("guests") with vetted neighbors who offer their machines and services ("hosts"). Lanier does not wash, dry, press, repair or transport any items itself. Hosts are independent providers, not employees or agents of Lanier.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and you are responsible for everything that happens under it. Keep your login details secure and give us accurate information.

3. Becoming a host

Hosting is application-only. You submit your name, city and phone number and our team reaches out to review your setup. We may approve or decline any application at our discretion, and may pause or remove a host at any time for safety, quality or legal reasons.

4. Bookings and payments

Prices are set by hosts. Lanier charges a flat $2 service fee on every transaction; the rest of the booking total is the host's payout. Payments are processed by Stripe, and by booking you also agree to Stripe's terms. Host payouts are sent to the bank account the host connects through Stripe.

Cancellations made before drop-off are refunded in full minus the service fee. Once a host has begun work, refunds are handled case by case.

5. Your items

Hosts log an intake with an item inventory and note any pre-existing damage. Do not send items that are irreplaceable, hazardous or require professional dry cleaning unless the host explicitly offers that service. Lanier's liability for lost or damaged items is limited to the amount you paid for the affected booking.

6. Acceptable use

No illegal activity, harassment, discrimination, off-platform payments, or misrepresentation of your machines, services or identity. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

7. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service grows; continued use means you accept the update. Questions go to lukevekse@gmail.com.
